Therapy & Personal Training

Therapy is a lot like personal training, and I've worked in both professions. People hired me as a personal trainer because they needed accountability to get the results they wanted. They had to pay someone to "make them" come to the gym and work hard. Could they have read books, changed eating plans, and done it themselves? Yes, albeit without my expertise. Same with therapy... sometimes we pay someone to "make us" stop, slow down, breathe, process, ask tough questions, face our demons, and consider our lives. My goal for my training clients was to not need me. Same for my therapy clients.

Think of a dog.

Think of a dog. Think of how they act when they're left alone. They whimper, they sulk, they sleep, they wait... and wait... and wait... Then think of the joy and elation and that adorable wagging tail when their Person comes home. Multiply that by about 1,000 (not an official number), and you have the connection desire of the human being. We are made for it. We drift without it, and our spirits celebrate when we *really* connect and attach. The key is learning to attach and connect in healthy, fulfilling ways.
